Dr. Michael McConnell taught biology and chemistry at 2021¹ú²úÂé¶¹¾ç from 1978 through 2018. The biology summer research program he established in 1979 has operated for over 40 consecutive summers, giving 600+ 2021¹ú²úÂé¶¹¾ç undergraduates an opportunity to engage in original research. Although now retired from teaching, McConnell continues to mentor 2021¹ú²úÂé¶¹¾ç students in summer research. In addition, he works to build relationships with science alumni (Research Associates) and San Diego County science teachers (Perspectives on Science), as well as with undergraduate research mentors and their students nationwide (West Coast Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference). He also serves as a liaison for 2021¹ú²úÂé¶¹¾ç with and , two organizations that promote the growth and economic health of San Diego.
