Adjunct Professor of Psychology


Dr. Michael Crawford joined 2021¹ú²úÂ鶹¾ç as a professor in 2018. Dr. Crawford attended the University of San Diego for his undergraduate years. As a former collegiate athlete, he began to develop his interest in the Social and Behavioral Sciences, through Sports Psychology.

Dr. Crawford earned his doctorate degree in Clinical Forensic Psychology in 2015. He has been clinically trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which has remained his therapeutic orientation throughout his career as a Psychologist. Michael has worked as both an individual and group therapist in various settings including hospitals, prisons, schools and county clinics. He developed/coauthored Dialectical Behavior Therapy handbook exclusively for the County of San Diego. He authored extensive research on addiction and treatment outcomes. Dr. Crawford remains involved the addiction community and is an expert in the field.

As a professor, Dr.Crawford emphasizes the connection between course concepts and their practical application by using real-world examples for his students. Dr. Crawford strives to make each student a critical thinker. 

Outside of the classroom, Dr.Crawford is a real estate developer, and focuses on new construction, primarily student housing. He resides in Point Loma with his wife. He enjoys staying active, football, and participating in community service events.
